About HGTA
Hyderabad Goods Transport Association, popularly known as HGTA, was formed in the year 1971 by a selected number of leading goods transporters of that time. In no time, it got the popular support and its base strengthened by hundreds of members. HGTA, as its first task, set about creating much needed infrastructure for the goods transporters with vigorous interaction with the state government and as a result, the Autonagar on Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway took shape initially accommodating around 170 goods transport companies along with concomitant auxiliary units like truck brokers, auto repairers, tyre dealers and retreaders etc. HGTA, within its brief preamble, interacted with various government agencies by way of consultations and consensus and brought about much required amenities and reliefs to the transporters. It also every year conducted meetings with hamali unions and effected uniform rate of payments to them. The year 1991 witnessed almost a resurgence in its activities. Its governing rules under Memorandum & Articles of the Association were further broadened and enhanced and the strength of Managing Committee members increased and their roles redefined to augment its services with purpose and poignancy to this sector. In 1995, HGTA celebrated its Silver Jubilee year in a resounding way with pomp and purpose it deserved. Number of seminars were held on information sharing in a thought provoking manner added with entertainment programmes to savour. HGTA’s self-appraisal and its dignity grew to further heights. The event created pleasant nostalgia in the years that followed. |
